What's it really mean to dream2~

This is one in a series of posts in which Trish attempts to dissect the purpose and meaning of dreaming; of looking beyond what is to what if~

Working my way towards the answer myself....and here's part III-dream, finale, I put on paper before me~

Back to my original post, my intent from the start of this search and query.

I'm risking.
I'm tossing my dreams out there.
Not to get responses. Not to hear the naysayers-neither the
encouragers.

I'm dreaming in pen and ink so I can see it
so I can live it
And so I can be it.

I'm tossing my dreams out there.
out here.

'I have become a sign to many; you are my strong refuge. My mouth is filled with your praise, declaring your splendor all day long.
psalm 71:7-8

I want to be a sign to many.
I don't know what that looks like.

I don't know what it even means.
I just know it gives me goosebumps when I say it.
my heart rate increases when I let my spirit feel it.
my mind goes numb when I try to wrap myself around it.

And that's enough for now.

Three big dreams.
Three Big Dreams.
They are out there.
They are out here.
In black and white.
Words on paper.
I've said them aloud.
I've written them aloud.
I've risked their exposure.
Risk
succeed or fail.

doesn't matter.
Only matters that I dream.
And live into it~

What's it really mean to dream, too?

This is one in a series of posts in which Trish attempts to dissect the purpose and meaning of dreaming; of looking beyond what is to what if~
Working my way towards the answer myself....

Why do I need to leave when all I need is around me?

Just like a dog~ lapping up life post
It plays around the corners of my mind lately;
relentlessly pursuing my consciousness;
determinately seeking to be answered.

It is the monkey-brain, the devil-player, the negative-nilly.
I do not listen, as much as hear and respond~

Why do I need to leave when all I need is around me?!

It taunts like a broken record,
replaying when I am tired,
when I am discouraged,
when I am weak from loneliness or travel demands.

Why do I need to leave
when all I need is around me?!
I turn it on its tail to run~
Because all that is around me will come with me.
Will be with me. Will grow with me.

I am not leaving all that I need; I am growing all that I have.

What's it really mean to dream?

This is one in a series of posts in which Trish attempts to dissect the purpose and meaning of dreaming; of looking beyond what is to what if~
Working my way towards the answer myself....

I'm risking.
I'm tossing my dreams out there.
Not to get responses. Not to hear the naysayers-neither the
encouragers.

I'm dreaming in pen and ink so I can see it
so I can live it
And so I can be it.
I may fail.
But I don't care.
I will have tried; and become something more than myself right now for having done so.
I may succeed. And ironically the same theory stands: I don't care.
I will have tried, and become something more than myself right now for having done so.

What's your big dream?-No.
What's your biggest dream?
The one tucked into the back pocket of your heart; protected from others' sight but held close to your consciousness?
The one that makes your breath catch and your heart quicken and yet....
stops you up and makes you question your sanity.
struggles against the you, you are now.
stretches to be let free; and you are not sure if it is supposed to live in you so much as escape and go find its true home?!

Are you really enough to support something so big, so rich, so beyond?!

What is that dream?
Can you say it aloud?
Can you share it aloud?
What would happen if you did?
What will happen if you don't?
Are you willing to risk it?
And, which is riskier? doing, or not?

Negativity is not expelled by thinking about it. Negativity is expelled by concentrating on its opposite. It is dealt with as a consequence~

sunday sermonets~

A Thought to Keep
Let us remember that the proverbs are not simply pithy phrases. God has given them to us to teach and correct.

Perhaps, pick one proverb to find understanding in this week~

waxy wednesday

I burn. I can't help myself; there's beauty and joy in it. What do you do that's just outside the box you live in?

 in love. trish.
If you would like to take your encaustic to the burn, join me in San Antonio for the IEA EncaustiCon in September or let me know you'd be interested in more for my 2013 workshop series.

EncaustiCamp 2012: finally, in my own words :)

Collaboration. That's what life is presenting to me lately; opportunities to work and create with others to exponentially move forward. Banana chocolate chip bread is the latest investment opportunity :)
I confiscated  Bridgette Guerzon-Mill's and Sue Stover's deliciously overripe bananas, drove them home in the stuffed-full car, and turned them into delicious bread just this morning. Quite the collaborative I'd say!
Next year I have high hopes of achieving this level of bakerly talent! Bees and all mind you! Everything and anything bees, honey and beeswax is on the docket for 2013~
And I'm going to put Patrick on the task of creating a few of these buzzing beauties to mark the entrance to ECamp next year. I can't resist the fun! But as for this year; 2012!?~
The crowds gathered!

The instructors instructed....

The wine fermented....(hey! We were in the Willamette Valley after all! Pinot Noir country~)

The gallery space filled~!

The caterers catered...

The welcome goodie bags unwrapped~

And the infamous fountain shot happened once again :)

Nothing more to say. I am blessed. In love. trish.
It was once again an inexplicably amazing experience.  I hope each and every one of you with an inclining of interest will put in on their 'must do' list for 2013. It is going to be that good.

Tree rings~

Is it necessary to identify present with past? To link places, people, tastes and sights present to experiences of similar form  from the past?
In this at least, I find it so; my travels.
It serves to give my mind a place to rest, to hold onto, so that all of the new that comes rushing in each and every time I touch down can coalesce gently.
It is through this identity with familiar that I feel protected and sure; just enough to keep on stepping into this unknown.
I am allowed to grow into the new through identity with old and create a new comfortable and familiar-one that will be revisited at another touch down, in the future of  'news', to come and be the touch point of safe familiarity. And from it another layer of my self, of this purpose I am serving, is grown.
Adding tree rings to this layered life of Living.

Musings on the coming of the second book~

As I anxiously anticipate the release of Encaustic Mixed Media next week, and  still digest and assimilate all that EncaustiCamp 2011 was and is, I feel compelled to revisit and edit the opening thoughts that you'll find in EMM. Thoughts to all the creatives out there-oh wait! That's all the world :)

If the wind will not serve, take to the oars. Latin proverb
You cannot plow a field by turning it over in your mind. Anonymous

I know this first hand; creativity takes courage. I almost let go of my creative calling; willfully thinking I needed to bury it to the call of the make-a-living world. Slowly I began to watch it die as financial health, societal expectations and ladder-climbing issues snuck in to fill the loss. Alas it would not die a dignified death.  With courage then unknown, I re-embraced this part of me with an irrevocable bear hug as the last glimmer of its spark nearly ran out!

Thank God circumstances took me down this different road and allowed me the courage and veracity to grab hold of my creative will with both hands and even at times, grip it viciously between gritted teeth~

Never letting go again, I am!

Creativity is the juice of the soul that keeps each and every one of us walking upright and inspired for another day. It is the conduit through which God keeps our hearts, minds and souls tuned in to all the power and glory this world has to offer. It is not just in those who title themselves, ‘artist’, ‘author’, ‘designer’ or ‘chef’. It is there for everyone; the mechanic, the engineer, the banker, caregiver, salesman and pizza deliverer. No one is exempt from this creative power in their life because it is an element of human existence in each of us. So take hold of your bit of it. Grab with both hands the dose allotted to you and make a difference in the world. Experience it and pass it on.

And, if your ‘creative’ is in the arts-in this passion for encaustic in particular- then thank you with a double dose! You and I share a link in this creative passion and I hope that, simply by indulging in the portion that is your call you have fed me, that I will be graced the opportunity to feed you well: A bountiful feast~In love. trish
