What's your big dream? decisions~

My big dreams;
looked at, confessed, professed, held, written, believed.

so what now?

I've made one decision.

My art is for me.
For the next year,
starting with my residency in Australia and carrying me through for as long as it does,
my art is for me.
Not that it hasn't been:
I paint because there is something I want to explore, experiment with, test, express....
but it always becomes something I start thinking of
in terms of its potential in sharing,
in become a show,
in processing into a great workshop....

But not this year.

My art is for me.
Experimenting. Playing. Testing. Learning.
regardless if it fits into wax,
if it involves painting,
or stitching,
sewing
dyeing
tearing
decomposing
or rebuilding.
doesn't matter what it looks like.
the only prerequisite is that it makes me come alive with potential.

What now, for you?

My art is for me.

I'm sure I'll share tidbits.....it's my nature ;)
in love. trish

  1. Hi Patricia,
I am a new reader to your blog. I recently signed up to do your class at Summer School in Albany in the new year and so that's how I find myself here today, reading your words of inspiration to dream. They have touched my heart and reminded me to once again dream BIG. I think this dreaming stuff takes time and you've reminded me that i need to intentionally put aside time to dream, to record those thoughts, to look to our Maker for His thoughts and His plans and His guidance through prayer and His wise words, to be brave and tell another or more than one other and then to live them. I love your dreams - to mentor, to be a sign to others, to create for yourself - for I suspect great joy and freedom and discovery will be found working/playing like this, and in the end will bless others.

Anyway, with much thanks to you, I plan to start some dreaming of my own. And I'm so excited to be learning about encaustics from you! I'm a slightly terrified beginner, bringing another slightly terrified beginner (a friend of mine) to your class!

    Blessings to you,

    Susie Campbell (nee Smith)
